There are many opportunities for students at The Ridgeway Campus to experience the wonderful and exciting world of music and drama

Music activities offered at the School include the following performance ensembles: the Golden Symphony Orchestra, Abbado String Orchestra, Concert Band, Ridgeway Chorale, Big Band, Jazz-Funk-Pop Band (JFP), Jazz Ensemble, Senior Singers, Locksley Symphonic Band, Locksley String Orchestra and various Chamber Ensembles - String Quartet, Clarinet Ensemble, Woodwind Quintet and Saxophone Quartet. Private music tuition is offered to all students of the School on all of the orchestral instruments (woodwind, brass, strings & percussion), classical and jazz piano, organ, classical and contemporary guitar, classical and contemporary voice and music theory.

Music and Drama is offered as part of the classroom curriculum from Years 7 to 12. Sound Engineering is offered as a Year 9 elective. Music is offered as a VCE and IB elective, Drama as a VCE elective.

There is ample opportunity for students to develop their performance skills at both formal and soiree music concerts and drama productions throughout the year. There are soloists’ soirees, class drama productions, the Piano and Soloists’ competition, the More Than Words concert for vocalists, the annual Musical Production plus a Theatre Production and the whole school Gala Concert held every two years. The Ridgeway Campus has a well-deserved reputation for the professional standard of its musical productions which are an event not to be missed. 

The School’s musicians have the opportunity to participate in ensemble tours and music rehearsal camps; the School regularly commissions compositions by renowned composers for performance by the student ensembles and offers music scholarships to talented and highly skilled musicians.
